It's Not Always About The Hits IV

I hope everybody had a good weekend. The wife and I went shopping for Thanksgiving as we plan to have it at our place this year...which means I get to cook. Her parents wanted to take us to have Thanksgiving dinner at a restaurant but I passed on the idea. I did it with them once and it was alright...okay, it sucked. Not my kind of experience. Not my worst Thanksgiving though, that would be somewhere in the mid-1990's when I was in college and had to work the entire day...at a restaurant. 

Well that's enough reminiscing...let's look at what I found in one of those $10 box of "commons" I love so dearly.

2020 Topps Heritage High Numbers - 340 cards.

Of course there were some duplicates...and a few inserts as well. But since I was only able to find a little bit of this (at an astronomically high price) at the time of release, this gets me a lot closer to completing it with minimal financial effort. Bonus was that it included 10 of the short prints.

2018 Topps Update - 292 cards.

2021 Topps Series 1 - 302 cards.

It wasn't all just hundreds of cards from a few sets...there were some random cards thrown in as well.

2015 Topps Heritage - 58 cards...which included a couple of SPs...

...and something I had never seen before, a Blue Back parallel.

1991 Pro Set Football - 14 cards. I freely admit to liking these overproduced Pro Set releases. 

2017 Topps Holiday Bowman - 2 cards.

Here are a few Cincinnati Reds from 2017 Topps Series 1 and 2016 Bowman Draft.

 A couple of Chicago Cubs from 2016 Topps Allen & Ginter.

2014 Bowman Chrome Prospect Trey Ball - 23 cards. That right...23 copies. Anybody want one? I can spare one...or 23.

3 cards from 2013 Bowman Draft Picks and Prospects...the last two are the Chrome versions.

Its Not Always About The Hits III

Even with the opportunity to find cards in the retail stores slowly coming back, I'll never abandon the opportunity to buy "worthless base cards" (at least this is what the forums call them) for cheap. Here's the latest 1500 count box I purchased for 10 bucks. 

2020 Topps Heritage - 86 cards.

2020 Topps Heritage High Numbers - 21 cards.

2020 Topps Allen & Ginter - 345 cards. Yes, that's quite a bit...but there were also a decent amount of inserts included as well...not just base cards.

1985 Topps - 52 cards.

2021 Topps Series 1 - 267 cards.

2017 Topps Heritage - 2 cards.

2018 Topps Series 1 - 27 cards.

2020 Topps Archives - 184 cards.

2020 Topps Stadium Club - 268 cards.

It's Not Always About The Hits II

Hello everybody! Hope everyone is doing well and not letting the impending holidays stress you out too much.

Card-wise I have decided to stop attending shows. I went to a few in the beginning of the year and quickly realized if you're not into graded basketball cards you can skip about 80% of the tables. If you're not into graded anything, bump that number up to about 95%. Wax is still too expensive...I find it funny that boxes of junk wax that a couple of years ago you would be upset to have someone try to give to you for FREE are now trying to be sold at $60. There are a few tables that have dimeboxes but there are already people at each table and I don't feel like waiting around because if they are anything like me they will be there for a while. I might try again next year and see if anything is different.

And who is grading packs of 1989 Topps? $49.00 for a PSA9 unopened wax pack of 1989 Topps on Baseball Card Exchange. For the life of me I have no idea why you would buy this. What's the point of severely overpaying for something if it's embarrassing to brag about it? 

Fortunately in the midst of overpriced stuff I can still find things I can use without paying a lot...like boxes of commons. My LCS will sometimes have 1500 count boxes for 10 bucks. 1500 cards and a 1500 ct box to store them in...such a deal.

(This long winded name was apparently needed to differentiate it from the 2008 Bowman Draft Picks and Prospects set which looks completely different.)

2008 Upper Deck Series 1 1969 O-Pee-Chee Inserts - 30 cards.

These were only found in Series 1 Hobby packs falling at the rate of 4 per Hobby box.

1993 Upper Deck - 193 cards.

1993 Classic Four Sport - 32 cards.

2019 Topps Archives - 42 cards.

2020 Panini Diamond Kings  - 212 cards.

Included in that were 7 All - Time Diamond King Inserts...

1 DK 206 Insert..

...and a One of One Joe McCarthy Masterpiece Parallel.
