As I've mentioned on this blog before, one of the things I enjoy most about the blogosphere is trading with other bloggers. I don't make it to too many card shows, and it's often times very tough to find the cards I need to complete the sets I'm working on.
I've gotten closer to some sets thanks to the trading I've done, and hopefully I've been to help other bloggers with their collecting goals as well. So I've been thinking for a while about how I can help initiate some trading with other collectors/bloggers that I may not have connected with yet. Of course, I'm certainly up for trading with collectors/bloggers that I've traded with before.
So every Thursday I post a collection of items representing a specific team. It will generally consist of mostly cards from that team, but it could also include a media guide, a yearbook, a pack of cards with a player from that team on the wrapper, etc.
If you are interested in it, either comment on the blog or email me at swingandapopup@gmail.com, with what you want to trade for it. No reasonable offer will be refused, however it does have to be off of my want list. I need to finish these sets! Trade me a dozen cards, trade me a hundred cards, trade me one card, but help me finish these sets!
I only have a small percentage of my "wants" uploaded. This is a huge work in process, and I am adding new want lists up weekly. I also keep track via a sidebar on my blog letting readers know what lists have been added in the past week. There are also some "junk wax" sets on there that I haven't finished. I know some of you are sitting on some '88 Score, 92 Leaf, etc., and this could be a chance to unload some of it to someone who needs it!
This week I feature the Seattle Mariners.
So here's what up for trade this week:
1998 Score Ken Griffey Jr.
2006 Upper Deck Future Stars Ichiro

Luck With Listia
I've talked a couple times about Listia before (here and here), and said that I didn't really care much for it. Well, I still had my original amount of credits and was still getting emails from them, so I went back on the site and put in a few bids for a couple of things.
I'm guilty of that quite often...complaining that something sucks and then trying it again later.
And as difficult as it was to believe I pulled a buyback card out of 1991 Topps, it is more difficult to believe (at least for me anyways), that I actually won something!!
Ten 1994 Fleer Extra Bases cards. These are oversized cards and part of a 400 card set.
I think I now have 15 of the 400.
Although they arrived safe and sound, I think it was more by luck than shipping smarts.
First of all, they showed up in a PWE by themselves with no protection of any kind. I was very surprised that there were no dents or any sort of dings on them.
The front of the envelope was blank, my address was written on a small pink piece of paper and taped with packing tape to the back of the envelope.

Not too impressive. But alas, ten Extra Bases cards weigh more than one ounce, so on the envelope it was stamped...
Fortunately, my friendly post office did not charge me the extra 20 cents.

We Have A Winner
A couple of posts ago I displayed all of the loot I had acquired from last Friday night's card show. It was the first show I had ever been to in the great state of Maine, and I was pretty happy with what I ended up with.
At the end of the post I asked all of you out there to guess how much you thought I spent to acquire all of that cardboard booty. The closest to guess how much I paid (and you could go over) would win some cards.
To refresh your memory, here's what I bought:
There were eight guesses. Here they are in order of submission.
Night Owl - $50
Jafronius - $42.50
Nick - $60
Stealing Home - $45
Reds Card Collector - $35
Dhoff - $28
Robert - $40
Junior Junkie - $42.39
First of all, I find it odd that Nick, author of the fantastic blog "Dime Boxes" came in with the most expensive guess.
Second of all, I knew I everybody would guess higher that what I actually spent. I would have too. (That's why it wasn't "closest without going over".)
So to recieve all of that cardboard goodenss, I had to shell out....
20 bucks.
Dhoff was the closest at $28, so I will be sending him some cards.
Thank you all for playing.
