Repacked Wax - Just The 70's Third Edition (Part 1)

So....I tried it again. I love opening these kinds of boxes even though the return is (for me) never anywhere near what you pay for it. (Eventually I'm going to expect thank you's from the other people that buy these types of things for ensuring that there is at least 1 less dud box out there.)

Occasionally I will post about the boxes of commons that I get for less than 10 bucks. So did I just buy a $143.99 box of commons? Let's find out!

Pack 1

1974 Topps Bob Miller
1977 Topps Tom Veryzer
1979 Kellogg's Ken Griffey
1978 Topps Don Kirkwood
1976 Topps Tito Fuentes
1971 Topps Paul Schaal
1979 Topps Jerry Augustine
1973 Topps Manny Sanguillen
1978 Topps Bobby Bonds
1975 Topps Woodie Fryman

Cards are in decent shape (although the airbrushing job on the 1974 Bob Miller is terrible)...and a Kellogg's card right off the bat.

Pack 2

1978 Topps Jerry Morales
1977 Topps Big League Brothers Paul Reuschel/Rick Reuschel
1979 Topps Merv Rettenmund
1979 Topps Record Breaker Pete Rose
1976 Topps Gary Carter
1974 Topps Roy White
1971 Topps American League Home Run Leaders Frank Howard/Harmon Killebrew/Carl Yastrzemski
1977 Topps Jim Slaton
1975 Topps Ted Kubiak
1976 Topps Juan Beniquez

A few decent ones here...Gary Carter 2nd year, 1971 AL Home Run Leaders, 1979 Pete Rose Record Breaker.

Pack 3

1978 Topps Doug Bird
1977 Topps Andres Mora
1979 Topps Dennis Eckersley
1979 Topps Steve Kemp
1976 Topps Bob Robertson
1974 Topps Tom Paciorek (I love hearing the YouTubers try to pronounce his last name)
1971 Topps Von Joshua
1977 Topps Nelson Briles
1975 Topps Rick Stelmaszek
1976 Topps Mark Belanger

Pack 4

1972 Topps Harry Walker
1973 Topps Dal Maxvill
1975 Topps Catfish Hunter
1979 Topps Butch Wynegar
1977 Topps Bill Plummer
1977 Topps Graig Nettles
1979 Topps Mike Jorgenson
1971 Topps Baltimore Orioles World Champions
1974 Topps Paul Splittorff
1978 Topps Adrian Devine

The 1975 Catfish Hunter was probably the best card out of that.

Pack 5

1978 Topps Jackson Todd
1976 Topps Bruce Kison
1975 Topps Gene Clines
1979 Topps Sal Bando
1977 Topps Stan Bahnsen
1971 Topps Alan Gallagher
1974 Topps Willie McCovey
1978 Topps Willie Hernandez
1977 Topps Len Randle
1973 Topps Mike Corkins

The 1974 Willie McCovey is easily the best card in that pack.

Pack 6

1978 Topps Milwaukee Brewers Team Card
1977 Topps Turn Back The Clock Ralph Kiner
1973 Topps Wes Parker
1978 Topps Charlie Hough
1974 Topps Steve Mingori
1970 Topps Aurelio Rodriguez
1975 Topps Hank Aaron
1979 Topps Charlie Hough
1972 Topps Richie Scheinblum
1979 Topps Detroit Tigers Prospects Dave Stegman/Dave Tobik/Kip Young

The 1975 Hank Aaron has been the best pull so far.

So far pretty much what I expected. The next 6 packs coming up!

  1. Wow thats a big chunk of change, but you never know what you'll pull! At first glance I thought that '79 Merv Rettenmund was a Wally Joyner error! They could be brothers.

  2. I agree that 75' Aaron was the best so far.

  3. No cards I need in that group, which is the main reason I'm not buying any of this.

  4. From what I can remember of your previous boxes, this seems to be your best first half so far. Hopefully the second half will be able to keep the positive mojo going.
