Unfortunately I was not able to open any 2020 Topps Archives, as I could not find any online or in any stores. Fortunately 2021 was different and I was able to get a few blasters over time (paying $19.99 a blaster).

I always enjoy this set...my favorite Design is the 91's although the 57's come in a close second. I don't care too much for the 2091 Design though. My favorite insert is the 91 Bazooka.

2021 Topps Chrome Update

My work schedule requires me to be on the road all day traveling from job to job. One of the worst things about the pandemic wasn't the lack of baseball cards, but the lack of available bathrooms. My local Target is one of my frequent rest room stops and on one occasion I happened to show up as the baseball card section was being stocked.

I wasn't going to be a stalker so I left and came back later in the evening and picked up a box of 2021 Topps Chrome Update. It was a bit pricey at $49.99 and most of the reviews of it I read were not good. So let's take the risk, shall we?

1993 Topps Football Series 2

Online shopping is dangerous. I had resisted the temptation for quite a few years but lately I've been buying some boxes here and there of cards that were from my youth (if you consider being in your 20's your youth). When this set came out I was a freshman at Plymouth State (I didn't go straight out of high school but to compensate for my late start I did a 4 year degree in less than 3 years). Because I was older, I qualified as a non-trad student which meant although I had to live on campus, I didn't have to live in a dorm. Instead I got to live in the "Non-Traditional House" which was...disgusting. There were weeds growing up through the floor in the bathroom. So my memories of this set were opening packs in that house. 

I found this on eBay and didn't spend a ridiculous amount for it , although it was (like most nowadays), a bit overpriced. But hell, you can't put a price tag on reliving memories of weeds growing through the bathroom floor.

Unlike some previous boxes, I did manage to pull all of the "money cards" from this set.

And the dangerous online shopping continues...I just ordered a box of 1992 Fleer Ultra Series 2 and 1992 Pinnacle Series 1.

Just from the very first pack, you could tell this was going to be better than the 9 packs of football. Notable rookies were Denis Savard, Joe Sakic and Peter Forsberg. There was also a nice 1988 - 89 Patrick Roy.

Was this worth the money? From an ROI investment perspective...no, but realistically how many times is it?

Did I enjoy opening these? Of course I did...I love these kinds of products and I'm not expecting 10x the value. 

Would I buy this again?

Absolutely.

Classic Wax 18 Pack Football/Hockey Box (Part 1)

If you've followed this blog, you've probably realized that I enjoy repacks. I've tried Repacked Wax and I was interested in trying another entry into this market called ClassicWax. 

It was more expensive than Repacked Wax...an box of 18 packs (15 cards in each pack) was $69.00. Shipping was $12.99 for a total of $81.99.

They were sold out of baseball, but one of the options they give you is to combine two sports (9 packs of each).

They also offer football, hockey and basketball so I chose 9 packs of football and 9 packs of hockey.

Here are what the back of the packs look like. I'm going to break this up into two posts...the first one will be the 9 packs of football and the second will be the 9 packs of hockey. 

I opened these up and put them away until I did this post, but didn't do the best job in keeping the in packs of 15 cards...as you will notice quickly.

Nothing too impressive here...without checking Beckett, eBay comps or whatever you use to check values, I would guess that the most valuable card is the 1989 Pro Set Troy Aikman rookie.
