Another Trading Thursdays Success Story

Generally when someone asks to trade for one of the team packages I feature on Trading Thursdays, it usually is a blogger who collects that team. So I was a bit surpised when Speigel from Nomo's Sushi Platter wanted the Atlanta Braves and Seattle Mariners packages I had offered up for trade. After adding some Dodgers to the package, I sent it across the United States to him.

I've traded with the Platter before and got some great stuff in return. There was no shortage of cool stuff this time either. Let's take a look, shall we?

Lots of set needs were bestowed upon me...

...like 2013 Topps, 2013 Topps Opening Day, 2010 Topps and 2012 Topps Gypsy Queen.

More Gypsy Queen. I should be pretty close to finishing this set. You can also see a couple 2012 Topps and a 2013 Topps Archives Brock Holt.

A slew of Red Sox in this scan, I only had the Melanson which is fine, I'll take another one. I have not bought much of this year's Gypsy Queen so it was nice to see the Buckner and Buchholz.

More Red Sox...it's amazing with all the cards that I have, that I can just have random cards sent to me and not have them.

2011 Topps Chrome Jonathan Papelbon. I don't normally buy much Chrome, so if you ever want to include some in a trade package, it's a pretty safe bet that I don't have it.

2013 Topps Tribute Shane Victorino. Not knowing much about him before this year, I am quite impressed. Keep in mind, the Red Sox promos over the winter heralded his arrival. For those used to big name free agent signings over the past few years, this was quite different.

I was not expecting much from the Red Sox this year. Of course I'm happy I have been wrong so far.

We''ll finish up with a couple memorabilia cards. First up a Jon Lester 2012 Topps Golden Moments. He needs to get his act together if the Red Sox are going to make the playoffs.

2007 Upper Deck Artifacts Apparel Curt Schilling. In my opinion, one of the best big game pitchers the Red Sox have ever had. His post-playing career hasn't gone that smoothly, though. He "pops up" every now and then on the local sportstalk station.

Once again, an excellent trade with the Platter! I would think the Platter is in good spirits this summer as his Dodgers are sitting atop the West Division after a rough start.

If you've never traded with the Platter before, you should because he's always got some great stuff to send your way.

  1. Great write-up. The Dodgers are the main team that I collect, of course. I also have so many other little side collections going that I have cards in binders from all different teams except the Giants.
