The Road To Redemption

Back in 2012, I bought a pack of Bowman Platinum to see what the cards looked like. I happened to also get this:

I had gotten a few of these in the early 1990's, and actually received the cards I was supposed to. However with all the negative stories I've read about redemption cards lately, I was not anywhere as excited as I normally would have been.

I went online and did the "easy step-by-step instructions" required to redeem this card, and after a period of time (I don't remember how long), I received this email:

Dear Consumer.

This email is to inform you that the Topps Company is currently beyond the 15 week processing time allocated for the following redemption card:

Our staff is working diligently to process and ship your redemption card as soon as possible. Please continue to check your Online Redemption account for updates regarding the status of your card.

If you no longer wish to wait for the redemption card, please contact our Consumer Relations team in order to place a substitution request for a card of equal Beckett value.

Do not hesitate to contact our Consumer Relations department via phone at 1-800-489-9149 or via email at
support@etopps.com for assistance. A consumer relations representative will be available to assist you Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30 pm (ET).

Sincerely,

Consumer Relations
The Topps Company, Inc.

...and then I promptly forgot about it. I've never received any communcation other than that email.

While I was putting together want lists the other day, I managed to find the redemption card again. I sent an email to Topps asking if I would ever get the card.

We'll see what happens.

  1. I remember it took over a year to get my John McEnroe auto from 2012 A&G. But on the flip side I just got my Andre Roberts auto from Topps Football and that took about a month.

  2. I'm in exactly the same boat. I submitted that exact same redemption, Tyrell Jenkins. Your post reminded me that I haven't received mine either. I might just send them an email as well. Over a year is simply too long to wait for a random prospect auto.

  3. I'll trade you for the card if you ever get it.
